Looking for a simple idea for a relaxing art activity for kids, I thought about doodle coloring pages, which have become quite popular for some time. However, to stimulate creativity, instead of using a ready-made coloring page, I decided to suggest children prepare their own autumn coloring page in the doodle art style.
For this type of work, children do not need a super skilled hand or highly developed artistic skills. All they need is a bit of creativity when coming up with their own patterns to decorate individual fields. And here you can help children by showing them a variety of doodle coloring pages and patterns of this type. Even if they try to copy them, each pattern will become individual and unique. Or perhaps such inspiration will be enough for kids to start putting their own ideas on paper?
Autumn doodle art step by step
The autumn leaf you see here was painted entirely with markers. We once bought a larger box with 60 colors that children sometimes take to school for art classes.
- 4 stages are needed to complete the entire work:
- outline the general shape that will become the main element of the image,
- cut it in various places with wavy lines,
- add your own patterns in individual fields,
- color it.
Here we used a leaf motif, but these types of drawings can be about anything. Or even nothing. The only thing that matters is focusing on the simple act of doodling patterns, which allows you to break away from other activities and problems. And it also helps children develop fine motor skills.
