Dinosaurs never really seem to go out of style. Some are huge and terrifying, while others look as if they would happily let you pat them on the nose. This one definitely belongs to the second group. It is a simple, friendly stegosaurus to color, with large plates along its back and a quite friendly look.
This time, I should point out right away that this is not one of my drawings. This coloring page was created by my daughter, who has been using part of her summer break to work on her own illustrations.
The dinosaur coloring page is fairly simple. It has large areas to fill with color, bold outlines, and only a few smaller spots on its back. That makes it a good choice for younger children and for kids who are not quite ready for very detailed coloring pages yet.
Dinosaur coloring pages with bold lines
This is not an anatomically accurate drawing. The style is much closer to a childlike illustration. Even so, this dinosaur coloring page can be used during lessons about prehistoric animals in preschool or the early grades of elementary school. While coloring, children can talk about what stegosaurus ate, what its distinctive plates may have been used for, and just how enormous it was compared with a human.
Personally, I would simply suggest using this picture for fun. Just a little something to enjoy with your favorite colors. Have fun! 😉
