This mystery picture was supposed to be created for Kindness Day, but I didn’t manage to publish it before that date. Oh well. It’ll be for next year. The sun is also a symbol of summer, so – holiday fun.
Today’s worksheet shows the sun. The mystery picture is 21 by 21 pixels, which gives a pretty big structure to draw. I’m posting a level 2 exercise here, which is a drawing described with an ordered code, but with whole blocks of pixels. We also have an axis of symmetry here, so we play mirror images.
What is the game about? Children read the code, or listen to it, and color the corresponding squares. Only half of the image has been coded, the right or left. The children complete the other half by reflecting the created pattern off the vertical axis of symmetry.

For those interested, you can also have fun coding a mystery picture. Hiding a picture under a code of letters and numbers. Contrary to appearances, this is also a valuable and demanding exercise that teaches reliability and concentration.
You can also use the sheet of paper with the solution to the exercise itself. Although this is less convenient, because here we are dealing with tiny squares.
I can only wish you a lot of fun with the puzzles you will find here. 🥰
Graphic dictation can be used in various ways:
- coloring the picture according to the given code – children read the code on their own,
- coloring the picture according to the given code by ear (auditory memory training) – someone is reading the code to the child,
- pasting the image according to the given pattern,
- redrawing the image from the original solution,
- writing the code based on the printed pattern.
