When I was sketching this coloring page, I wanted to create something birthday-themed. Or at least something celebratory. Something cheerful that would leave plenty of room to play with different colors. I ended up choosing balloons and decorative garlands. What do you think?
Birthdays were my first thought when creating this coloring page, but the design also works for many other occasions that come along from time to time. A wedding, a new baby, a housewarming, a new job, or an important exam—any moment that could use a little color and a cheerful “Congratulations!”
At the bottom of the drawing, I placed several large balloons filled with different patterns. There are waves, dots, scales, stars, and more imaginative ornaments, so every balloon can be colored in a completely different way. Above them hang decorative garlands, pennant banners, and a string of small hearts. The entire illustration was drawn by hand, which means the lines are not perfectly even and the decorations have a looser, more illustrative character.
I left some blank space in the center of the coloring page. You can add “Happy Birthday!”, “Best Wishes!”, “Congratulations!”, or your own short message.
Coloring pages for birthdays and parties
This printable birthday coloring page can become a simple handmade card, a party decoration, or part of an art activity at preschool or school. It is also useful when you need to prepare a card quickly but still want it to feel personal. Simply color the balloons, add a message, and it is ready. Well, almost—you may still need to find a safe place for the glitter to dry if someone decides to go all out.
Although the drawing is mainly associated with birthdays, it can easily be adapted to almost any celebration. The colors, patterns, and message in the center will decide whether it becomes a cheerful birthday card, a wedding decoration, a welcome for a new baby, or congratulations on a new job.
